PLYFIX LLC (“Plyfix,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website at plyfix.com, our iOS application, and any related services (collectively, the “Service”).
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, place a bid, submit a work order, send a message, or contact support. This may include:
Account information: name, email address, phone number, password (stored securely as a hashed credential), and user type (landlord, tenant, or contractor).
Property and work-order information: property addresses, descriptions of maintenance requests, photos you upload, and scheduling preferences.
Bid and payment information: bid amounts, hourly rates, supply costs, and payment status. Payment card details are processed by Stripe, our payment processor, and are not stored on Plyfix servers.
Rent payment information: if your landlord enables rent collection, we record the rent amounts you pay through the Service, the date and status of each payment, and which unit it applies to. As with all payments, card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on Plyfix servers.
Subscription and billing information: for landlords, the number of units on your profile (which determines your price), your subscription status and trial end date, and identifiers linking your account to your Stripe customer record. Contractors who receive payouts have a connected Stripe account identifier stored on their profile. We do not store card numbers or bank account details.
Communications: messages exchanged between users through the Service, and any communications you send to support.
Device and usage information: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, push-notification tokens, and how you interact with the Service.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including matching landlords with contractors and routing work orders.
Send push notifications and SMS messages about account activity, bid acceptance, scheduling, and reminders.
Process payments through Stripe and prevent fraud.
Respond to your support requests and improve the Service.
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to provide the Service or as required by law. We do not sell personal information. Specifically, we share information with:
Other users of the Service as necessary to facilitate a transaction. When a contractor bids on a work order, the landlord sees the contractor’s name, trade, credentials and bid amount — not their phone number or email. A landlord sees the phone number of a tenant they manage, and of a contractor they have added to their own team, so they can reach them directly about work.
Service providers who help us operate the Service, including Google (Firebase, for hosting, our database, file storage, sign-in and push notifications; Gemini, an AI model that reads a work order’s description and photo — never your address — to sort the request, ask a follow-up question and estimate supplies, and which in our iOS app also answers spoken voice requests using your name and account type; and reCAPTCHA, to block automated abuse), Stripe (payments), and Twilio (text messages and email). These providers are contractually limited to using your information only to provide services to Plyfix.
Legal authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Plyfix, our users, or others.
Mobile numbers and text-message consent. Your mobile phone number, and your consent to receive text messages, are never sold or rented, and never shared with third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Your consent to receive texts is used for nothing except deciding whether to send you the messages described in your terms, and is never shared with anyone.
Your phone number itself is shared in only two situations, both of them to provide the Service and neither of them marketing: with the messaging provider that delivers our texts (Twilio), so the messages you asked for can reach you; and with a landlord who has added you to their team, so they can reach you directly about work. Bidding on a job does not give that landlord your number — contractors who win work through the marketplace are reached through Plyfix, not by a number we hand over. No other party receives it. Turning texts off stops the messages; it does not withdraw a landlord’s ability to contact you about work you have taken on.
4. Data Retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account by contacting support@plyfix.com. Some information may be retained after account closure as required by law (for example, financial records related to completed transactions).
5. Security
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information, including TLS for data in transit and encryption at rest for sensitive data stored by our providers. No system is perfectly secure; if you become aware of a security issue, please contact us promptly.
6. Children
The Service is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it.
7. Your Choices
You can:
Update or correct your account information from within the Service.
Disable push notifications in your device settings.
Opt out of text messages at any time, in either of two ways: reply STOP to any text from us, or turn off Text Messages in your Profile. Both take effect immediately and cover every kind of message we send. Reply START, or turn the setting back on, to resume. Contractors can find the full messaging terms in the Contractor Terms.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above indicates the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated via the Service or by email.
